The CWS Global Story

CWS Rochester is a local refugee resettlement office of international human rights organization CWS Global.

CWS Global has one goal: building a world where there is enough for all

Our vision is a world where everyone has food, voice and a safe place to call home. We’ve been working to make this a reality for more than 75 years, and we know it’s possible. We’ve welcomed thousands of refugees and other new neighbors into our communities, helped countless families put food on the table and lifted the voices of people who have been left out.

Every family has the right to live in safety and dignity.

CWS Global has welcomed newcomers to the United States since its founding in 1946. And the need is greater now than it has been in decades. From the moment refugee families arrive in the United States, we help meet their needs. We also make sure they have the information and skills they need to thrive.

In the halls of the U.S. Capitol, and in cities and towns across the U.S., we are standing for welcome. We are lifting refugee and immigrant voices to call for inclusive, supportive policies.

When a disaster happens, we also focus on supporting our vulnerable neighbors. Our emergency response efforts include immediate resources like CWS Kits and Blankets as well as a focus on long-term recovery.

In communities across the United States, CROP Hunger Walks provide grants to about 1,000 hunger-fighting agencies each year. Join the movement to ensure that everyone can have food, voice, and a safe place to call home.

Church World Service is funded by a combination of local, state, federal and private funders and we rely on community support to provide robust and comprehensive services to our many clients.
